Peter Cooper Motors Charity Day - Goodwood Golf Club

Tom was invited back for a second year to run a competition at Goodwood Golf Course for the Peter Cooper Motor Group's annual charity golf day — and it delivered exactly what it promised: generous people, good golf and very good food. Anyone who has played Goodwood will know the bacon rolls and the showers deserve a mention of their own.

Part of the fun of the day is the fleet of bespoke golf buggies commissioned by Lord Bath specifically for the club. They look like something wheeled off the set of a period film, and they make the drive between holes feel like an event in itself.

Out on the 7th green we set up the Bertie Boucher Putting Challenge. Every player had a go at a genuinely tricky putt, with a fully customised Bertie Boucher putter waiting for anyone who could hole it. There were some superb strokes across the day, a handful of lip-outs that drew groans from the whole group, and one or two attempts best left undescribed.

The evening moved into Goodwood's courtyard for a meal and a charity auction, where a Bertie Boucher putter went under the hammer for £300.

Now in its 11th year, the Peter Cooper Motor Group charity golf day has raised over £200,000 for causes including Cancer Research UK and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Thank you for having us back — we will be there again.
